Here are some Waseda-specific eligibility requirements about which you should be aware:

1) Most of the schools (i.e., faculties / majors) at Waseda require a 3.1 cumulative GPA but 3.6 if you wish to take courses in the School of Culture, Media and Society. Please see the information viewable through the links in the "List of Schools (Requirements) ..." section on the Waseda website for more information about their varying GPA requirements.

2) The GPAs listed on this webpage are higher than those listed on the Waseda website since, unlike UAlberta, Waseda will NOT round up for GPA calculations. You need to meet the GPA requirement ON THIS PAGE to be considered for an exchange to take into account differences in how GPA is calculated at both schools.

3) You need to have completed at least one Winter or Fall term at UAlberta, with all grades reported, at the time of the application deadline to be considered for this exchange.

4) GPA calculations will NOT include any terms on your transcript that have the wording, "Unofficial Until Approved by the Dean."

5) GPA calculations will ONLY include grades from courses completed at UAlberta and no other school.

6) Some schools (i.e., faculties / majors) at Waseda might have additional and/or higher requirements in areas other than GPA that are not mentioned on this webpage. Once again, please see the information viewable through the links in the "List of Schools (Requirements) ..." section on the Waseda website for more information.

7) Undergraduate applicants, except those who apply to the School of International Liberal Studies (SILS), must have completed at least 12 years of school education (excluding higher education/education at university) or equivalent in a country other than Japan. SILS applicant must have completed most of the secondary education (6 years) in a non-Japanese educational system.

8) Graduate applicants must have completed 16 years of school education or equivalent in a country other than Japan.

9) Students cannot participate in this exchange during the final year of their degree program.

PLEASE NOTE: An exchange to Waseda's School of International Liberal Studies would be a good opportunity to improve your Japanese since they have a requirement for 10 hours of Japanese language instruction per week at the longest depending on your Japanese proficiency level.
