Tour with Honourable Randy Boissonnault, Minister of Tourism and Associate Minister of Finance

On August 4, 2022, Honourable Randy Boissonnault, Minister of Tourism and Associate Minister of Finance, along with others visited the University of Alberta and toured LKSIoV and Applied Pharmaceutical Innovation.

The group had a behind-the-scenes tour of our labs and heard about the ground-breaking research on life-saving therapies for emerging pathogens and other viruses. 

They also had an upclose view of Dr. Michael Houghton's 2020 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine medallion for his discovery of the hepatitis C virus and his continuing work on developing a vaccine for it.  Dr. Houghton shares the Nobel Prize with Dr. Harvey Alter and Dr. Charlie Rice.
