Graduate Programs

The Faculty of Native Studies offers programs leading to the degrees of Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy.

While the programs vary in terms of the depth and breadth of study, they each support research on:

  1. Critical Indigenous Theory;
  2. Indigenous Governance;
  3. Indigenous Peoples and Place (with emphasis on the Prairies); and
  4. Indigenous Sexualities, Genders and Feminisms.

Master of Arts in Native Studies

Students are expected to have an established background in Indigenous studies. This is best demonstrated by fulfilling the requirements for the BA in Native Studies.

PhD in Indigenous Studies

Students are expected to have an established background in Indigenous studies. This is best demonstrated by fulfilling the requirements for the MA in Native Studies.

Indigenous Sport and Recreation Graduate Certificate

The Indigenous Sport and Recreation Graduate Certificate is designed to help working professionals gain a deeper understanding of the cultural context of Indigenous communities through sport and recreation.
