Prof. Erin Nelson presents at WISEST panel Nov. 24

Health law expert will discuss Alberta’s opioid crisis, vaccine hesitancy and bioethics

Professor Erin Nelson, a University of Alberta Faculty of Law authority on health care ethics and the law, is one of four speakers presenting at an upcoming virtual panel titled Vaccines, Variants and Vulnerabilities: Pivoting Through the Pandemic.

The panel is presented by WISEST (Women in Scholarship, Engineering, Science and Technology) and will focus on health topics of current importance to Albertans, including the opioid crisis, vaccine hesitancy, mental health, family violence and bioethics.

Nelson is a Fellow and member of the Advisory Board of the Health Law Institute. Her research interests include the interface of health care law and ethics.

Other speakers are Elaine Hyshka, Assistant Professor in the University of Alberta’s School of Public Health; Stephanie Montesanti, Associate Professor in the School of Public Health at theUniversity of Alberta; and Shannon MacDonald, RN, Associate Professor in the Faculty of Nursing.
