IMELDA in collaboration with the Department of Drama of the Faculty of Arts (University of Alberta) is pleased to welcome Dr. Julien Bobineau (Universität Würzburg). Dr. Bobineau will present: Patrice Lumumba in Transnational Francophone Culture.

Dr. Bobineau is an Assistant Professor in French and French Literature at the Institute of Modern Languages ​​at the University of Würzburg. In 2017, he completed his doctorate on postcolonial theory and colonial discourses in Belgium and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Dr. Bobineau is interested in the history, literature, politics and arts of the African Francophonie as well as colonial memory, racism and anti-colonialist movements in Europe and Africa.

The Bilingual Revolution: a Fabrice Jaumont conference

Alliance Française of Edmonton and Campus Saint-Jean are proud to welcome Fabrice Jaumont, specialist in education, as part of the Mois de la Francophonie events.

Fabrice Jaumont will explore the following points: Why we need a bilingual revolution, The benefits of bilingualism, Action plan to create bilingual or immersion programs in public schools, What success of a bilingual education looks like. The conference will be followed by an exchange between the participants and Fabrice Jaumont, then by a signing session.

Fabrice Jaumont is a French-born author and educator known for his advocacy of bilingual education around the world. He is the author of several books translated into different languages, such as this eponymous book from the conference "The Bilingual Revolution, the future of education is written in two languages" (2017), as well as "The Gift of Languages : Paradigm Shift in Foreign Language Education (2019).
