Updates for the U of A community for the week ending April 3

New information on working remotely - including privacy & security tips, borrowing equipment, and purchasing supplies for remote work. Also: Convocation updates regarding virtual Spring 2020 ceremony & in-person ceremonies when permitted, and what grad students need to know about their studies.

Here are this week’s updates for the U of A community: 

Responding to Public Health Act Violations

As Peace Officers, University of Alberta Protective Services (UAPS) responsibilities include responding to the non-compliance of the Public Health Act orders that were recently legislated to slow the spread of COVID-19 in Alberta. Complaints about non-compliance on campus should be called-in to 780-492-5050. Off-campus complaints should be should be submitted online, and not to 911, which is for emergency situations only.

U of A Emergency services are still here for you 

All emergency services at the University of Alberta remain operational and unchanged. For fire, police, ambulance, or hazardous spills CALL 911, then call UAPS at 780‑492‑5050 (24hrs). With the move to remote work and study, staying cyber secure is more important than ever before. Whether you are conducting an online class or calling-in to a virtual meeting, the Office of the Chief Information Security Officer has some important tips & resources to help you prevent and respond to potential threats. On June 12, the U of A will celebrate the Class of Spring 2020 in a virtual convocation ceremony. More details will be provided as they become available.
