Submitting a Project
CSC research projects are accepted from all Faculties in all disciplines.
Professors may wish to consult with the U of A's Safeguarding Your Research' for more information about accepting visiting researchers to work on their projects, particularly if they possess Tri-Agency funding. Please visit that website for more details.
Faculty members interested in hosting a research intern are welcome to submit a proposal for a research project when research projects are being accepted. Please consult our Important Dates section for current cycle timelines.
Why Submit a Project?
- Opportunity to supervise and mentor a bright young undergraduate researcher from China, who must meet the following eligibility requirements, as per China Scholarship Council (CSC)
- Administrative and program assistance is provided by University of Alberta International Student + Visitor Services staff. This includes the immigration invitation, CCID creation, and academic visitor campus registration processes (POI).
- Students receive full financial support from China Scholarship Council:
- $4,500 CAD stipend
- Round Trip Airfare
- No financial contribution from host professor is required nor expected
- International exposure and new perspectives for your research
- Research project may be showcased at a poster symposium, if one is available during the stay of your intern
- Grow your supervisory and mentorship skills
- Support for graduate student recruitment
- Foster connections with top international universities

Interested in hosting PhD/Doctoral students or Post-Doctoral Scholars?
The China Scholarship Council (CSC) also provides scholarships to Chinese citizens for visiting PhD students and Post-Doctoral Scholars.
Faculty members who have been contacted by a Chinese PhD student or Post-Doctoral Fellow looking to conduct research should please seek further information from the University of Alberta's Sponsored Student Program.
