ADI scientists have made enormous contributions towards understanding and treating diabetes, and most importantly improving the quality of life for diabetes patients. But none of this would be possible without the generosity of donors that support our researchers. Dr. Charles Allard was one of Edmonton’s most distinguished individuals. A $1.5 million donation plus matching funds led to the establishment of this Chair, which supports leadership at the ADI and helps recruit new talent.
Established through a $1 million donation in 2008, this endowment provides yearly stipend support for ADI-supervised graduate students researching diabetes.
In 1990, the MacLachlans donated $1 million to establish an endowment funding novel research in islet transplantation and beta cell replacement therapy.
A $1 million donation established the Muttart Diabetes Research and Training Fund, which supports ADI-led research grant competitions and graduate student recruitment.
Since 2015, U of A alumnus Dr. Rod Eidem has donated nearly $1M to advance research toward practical clinical applications.
Val and Morley Blanch created a fellowship at the ADI in 2009 and established the ADI Collaboration Grant to promote discovery translation.
The Chan family established the Facilitating Equity in Diabetes Research (FEDR) Fund to support graduate students and fellows at the ADI who themselves have diabetes.
Through the Victoria Foundation, this gift supports the Andrei Marti scholarship and complementary awards for excellence in academic achievement and knowledge dissemination.
