Andrei Marti & ADI Graduate Scholarships
A generous gift from Andrew Beckerman held by the Victoria Foundation, along with matching funds from the Alberta Diabetes Institute (ADI), has resulted in scholarship opportunities for graduate students at the ADI who have demonstrated excellence in knowledge dissemination combined with academic achievement. The Andrei Marti scholarships are for students studying islets or cell therapies for diabetes, while the ADI complementary scholarships are for graduate students studying other aspects of diabetes.

The FEDR Living with Diabetes Award is available annually to ADI trainees living with diabetes to help reduce financial barriers associated with managing the disease while pursuing graduate and post-doctoral studies.

The Alberta Innovates Summer Research Studentship consists of a stipend valued at not less than $1,875 per month for 2-4 months. The award is paid out in semi-monthly installments over the duration of the project.

The ADI Graduate Studentship Award is $12,000/y for 1 year and is intended as a recruitment tool for MSc and PhD students interested in diabetes-related research. The award is to be utilized during one of their first two years of training and will be paid out over a 12 month period.

Trainee Travel Awards are intended to provide travel and accommodation support for students wanting to present diabetes-related research at major national or international meetings. There are a limited number of Trainee Travel Awards available per year.
