A major partnership to empower young people and promote Francophone leadership in Alberta

In a province where the French-speaking community is growing steadily, this partnership is of paramount importance. It is not merely a matter of coordinating initiatives, but of building a comprehensive ecosystem that promotes the French language, fosters cultural pride, and provides young people with the tools they need to shape the Alberta of tomorrow.

Fostering leadership and pride in the French-speaking community

At the heart of this agreement lies a clear ambition: to nurture the next generation of engaged bilingual leaders. Through this collaboration, the two institutions aim to create an inspiring environment where young people can make their voices heard, develop citizenship skills, and become fully engaged in society.

A rich and diverse program of events at the heart of the campus

The agreement takes the form of concrete commitments that will shape academic and community life throughout the year. The pillars of this collaboration include:

• Engagement and student life: Joint activities co-organised with the Association des universitaires de la Faculté Saint-Jean (AUFSJ), interactive workshops at the French for the Future Local Forum - Edmonton, and discussion groups to address the key issues facing young people
• Flagship citizenship events: Hosting major events on campus that foster engagement, such as the Parlement jeunesse de l'Alberta (PJA) and preparatory gatherings for the Jeux de la Francophonie canadienne (JeuxFC) ahead of the 2028 edition
• Recruitment channels and visibility: An increased presence of the CSJ at the Rassemblement jeunesse (RaJe) to guide secondary school pupils towards French-language post-secondary pathways
• Advocacy and concerted action: Close strategic collaboration to amplify young people’s voices and champion their rights and needs with government bodies and community partners.

To ensure the long-term success of this partnership and to continually adapt it to the realities on the ground, the senior management teams of both organisations will meet every six months. Together, the CSJ and the FJA reaffirm their commitment to a strong, fulfilled and resolutely forward-looking youth.
