Erica Norton wins prize for Outstanding Communication at FURCA

Erica Norton won the ‘Outstanding Communication’ award at the University of Alberta’s Festival of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (FURCA). This award recognises students who demonstrate an exceptional ability to communicate their research findings clearly and effectively to an interdisciplinary audience.

This award recognises the exceptional quality of Erica’s oral presentation, which focused on the research she is conducting as part of the SUSTE 410 course, supervised by Anne Boerger, towards her Certificate in Sustainable Development. Her research focuses on a comparative analysis of the energy transition in Denmark and Canada. She is particularly interested in the factors that promote or hinder this transition in the two countries studied.

Erica had already distinguished herself in 2025 by taking part in the “Délie ta langue” public speaking competition, where she came third in the national final. She emphasises that this formative experience enabled her to develop communication skills which she now successfully applies in various contexts, notably during her presentation at FURCA.
