Guide to Academic Advisement Report

The Academic Advisement Report is an online degree planning tool in Bear Tracks that tracks your academic progress in the program by automatically mapping your completed, transferred, and in-progress courses to your specific program requirements. Changes in registration are reflected instantly in the planner, allowing you to see how changes affect your degree plan in real time. 

This tool helps students clearly identify:

• which requirements have been met (including those in progress) 
• which  requirements are still outstanding 

There are two ways to access the Academic Advisement Report, depending on what stage you are in the program:

• What-If Report: As a new admit to the Faculty of Education, you must use the What-If report from the time of admission until the completion of your first Fall term in the Faculty of Education. 
  • What-If Report is found under the Academic Records tile in Bear Tracks
  • Please note, new students have access to their What-If report once the offer of admission is accepted, and tuition deposit is paid (for new students to the UofA).
• Academic Requirements Report: Starting your first Winter Term and onward, you may use the Academic Requirements Report to access your online degree planner.
  • Academic Requirements Report is found under the Manage Classes tile in Bear Tracks

The Academic Advisement Report is only available for students in the following programs:

• Bachelor of Education Elementary - 4-Year 
• Bachelor of Education Secondary - 4-Year
• Bachelor of Education Elementary - After Degree (admitted Fall 2026 or later)
• Bachelor of Arts (Drama)/Bachelor of Education (Secondary) Combined Degree
• Bachelor of Music/Bachelor of Education (Elementary & Secondary) Combined Degree

The report is not available for students in the following programs:

• Bachelor of Education Secondary -  After Degree
• Aboriginal Teacher Education Program (ATEP)
• Combined Education Degrees not listed above
