Monique Visser, RN, MBE, HEC-C, is a Clinical Ethicist with Health Shared Services supporting PublicHealth, Home Care, Hospice, Continuing Care Facility Living, Continuing Care Supportive Living, Cross Cancer Institute, and Corrections within the Edmonton Area. Monique has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) and practiced as a registered nurse in several communities across Canada and in Saudi Arabia. She worked primarily in high acuity acute care settings and completed a graduate certificate in critical care (CCAC). Monique's academic background also includes a Master of Bioethics (MBE) from Harvard Medical School and further ethics training with the Alberta Health Services two-year clinical ethics fellowship. In May 2025, she completed the Healthcare Ethics Consultant-Certified (HEC-C) program. Monique is also on the Executive Board of the Canadian Bioethics Society/ Societe Canadienne de bioethique. Her research areas of interest include exploring everyday ethics, moral distress and the role of ethics education as part of preventative ethics.
