What is public health?
At its core, it is about what is best for all of us, including the most vulnerable. Its aim is to maintain and improve the health of communities and populations. It crosses multiple fields of study such as health, social and human sciences to touch every aspect of our lives on a daily basis.

Join Dr. Laura McDougall, dean of the School of Public Health, for a timely discussion on the future of public health in increasingly polarized times. Drawing on more than 30 years of experience at the intersection of science, policy, and public health leadership, Dr. McDougall will explore how the field can rise above the division, rebuild public trust, and lay the groundwork for a more resilient, equitable, and inclusive public health system prepared to meet the challenges ahead.
Following the discussion, stay for the Student Knowledge to Action and Research Afternoon, where School of Public Health students will showcase innovative projects that turn research into real-world impact. This engaging session highlights the next generation of public health leaders and their work to improve health outcomes in communities across Alberta and beyond.
All are welcome to attend one or both events.
