The University of Alberta’s campuses are continually evolving to meet the changing needs of students, faculty and staff. With a diverse range of facilities — from classrooms to residences — the university is focused on investing in infrastructure that supports learning, research and community life in purposeful and sustainable ways.
Hoyme Hall, a key student residence at the Augustana Campus, requires significant upgrades to improve operational efficiency, address aging infrastructure, and ensure it can continue to serve students well into the future. To achieve this, the university plans to decommission and remove the aging and underused centre and west wings while refreshing the east wing of the building. This approach will adapt the facility to meet current demand and ensure a long and sustainable future for the refreshed facility.
The land made available after demolition will create opportunities to further advance Augustana’s campus development and student experience priorities. Work is expected to begin in Summer 2026, with careful planning to minimize disruption to students, faculty, staff and the community.
