Call for Nominations - Academic Staff Member to Serve on the Board of Governors
General Faculties Council (GFC) encourage applications from individuals who are or have been historically underrepresented at the University of Alberta, including women, visible minorities, Indigenous persons, persons with disabilities, and LGBTQ2S+ persons.
In Section 16(3) the Post-Secondary Learning Act requires that a member of the academic staff of the University of Alberta nominated by GFC serve on the Board of Governors.
As of July 12, 2023, Professor Dilini Vethanayagam (Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry) will complete her term.
GFC is called upon to commence a nomination/election process to fill this upcoming vacancy on the Board of Governors of the University of Alberta.
Selection Criteria:
To be eligible, the academic staff member:
- Must come from U of A Staff Category (A) as defined in UAPPOL Recruitment Policy (Appendix A) Definitions and Categories of Academic Staff
- Must be employed in Category A throughout the term of appointment to the Board
- Must be willing and able to serve for the full term of the appointment on a continuous basis. A full term on the Board is normally three years.
