The Strategic layer is comprised of the Information Technology Enterprise Committee (ITEC) and the President’s Executive Committee - Operations (PEC-O). ITEC oversees core IT initiatives in the University, including funding, directly approving major projects, and receiving updates from the steering committees. ITEC goals include reducing duplication, realizing economies of scale, raising the range and quality of IT services, adopting best practices, and complying with audit requirements. PEC-O guides and receives input from ITEC, and serves as interface to the University’s senior leadership.

ITEC provides recommendations for core IT systems (defined in “Scope of Technology and Services Covered by ITEC”, in the Terms of Reference, linked below). ITEC’s goal is to reduce duplication, realize economies of scale, raise the quality of IT service, adopt best practices, and comply with audit requirements.
ITEC receives recommendations, escalations and reporting from the tactical IT steering committees, and provides strategic input and funding to those committees.
