Faculty Recognition

PearlAnn Reichwein

Hot off the press, Professor PearlAnn Reichwein received the first copies of Uplift: Visual Culture at the Banff School of Fine Arts, co-authored by Professor Karen Wall, published by University of British Columbia Press. Dr. Reichwein and Dr. Wall are looking forward to sharing their new book with readers. It details the origins of the University of Alberta's summer arts school in the Canadian Rockies that grew into today's renowned Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. Student Recognition

Maxine Myre 

Canadian Society for Psychomotor Learning and Sport Psychology Franklin Henry Young Scientist Award in the area of exercise psychology. "The purpose of this award is to recognize scholarly research of trainee members of the Canadian Society for Psychomotor Learning and Sport Psychology (SCAPPS). This recognition will be evidenced both by scholarly contributions to date (detailed in a curriculum vitae) and the quality of thesis-related research as judged by one exemplar of this work (i.e., new, submitted or recently published).

Shannon Pynn 

Awarded the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council's Doctoral Fellowship. Government of Canada invests in doctoral social sciences and humanities research talent. During this period of worldwide social uncertainty, the insights of our Canadian social science and humanities researchers can be transformative. They can help us better understand and navigate the needs of our society, the challenges we face, and how we move forward together to build a better, more inclusive Canada―and world. the Government of Canada is investing $26 million over the next four years to support 540 doctoral researchers across Canada through the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council’s (SSHRC) Doctoral Fellowships competition. This funding will allow graduate students to pursue research in areas of critical social importance, such as the effects of climate change; the development of sustainable food systems; Indigenous languages; law and environmental revitalization; the impacts of chronic and recreational cannabis use; and psychological resilience from past traumas. https://www.sshrc-crsh.gc.ca/results-resultats/recipients-recipiendaires/index-eng.aspx

Rachel Skow

CSEP Graduate Student award presentation (finalist) - For many years, CSEP has honoured a graduate student with an award based on their research contribution to the AGM. Up to four finalists are invited to present their research at the Graduate Student Award Symposium. Rachel was selected as one of the finalists in this years competition and gave a live talk on the virtual conference platform to ~200 delegates. 

Torstein Eriksen Daehlin

Edmonton 2001 World Championships in Athletics Sport Performance Graduate Scholarship. Awarded annually on the basis of superior academic standing to two students entering any year of the Master of Science or PhD program with the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation, either full-time or part-time. Preference will be given to students with an interest in nutrition, ergogenic aids, and sport performance as well as an interest and involvement in the area of enhancement of sport performance.

Athletics Recognition

KSR student-athletes top the list of Academic All Canadians! With 54/170 honours earned, KSR students make a strong showing again representing those exceptional student-athletes who achieve an academic standing of 80 percent or better while playing on one of their university's varsity teams.
