The Clinical Microbiology Fellowship Training Program is a full-time, two-year program designed to train Ph.D. graduates in clinical microbiology. An optional third year may be spent conducting an applied translational research project. The purpose of the program is to train those who wish to pursue a career as a clinical microbiologist in a laboratory where both medical microbiology and applied research activities are conducted. Training encompasses clinical laboratory rotations, didactic lectures, hospital rounds, and clinical seminars covering all aspects of clinical microbiology. The primary location of training is at the Provincial Laboratory for Public Health at the University of Alberta Hospital.
