The 31st Alberta District Japanese Speech Contest

It was great pleasure to host the 31st Alberta District Japanese Speech Contest on Saturday, March 5, 2022 online due to the COVID-19 restrictions. Despite the difficult situation, 15 contestants from the University of Calgary, the MacEwan University, and the University of Alberta shared their experiences and thoughts.

At the Beginner category, Ghadeer Mahdi won the first place, Kawthar Mahdi won the second place and Ryan Chan won the third place. At the Intermediate category, Kayla Zurakowski won the first place and Mariz Quino won the second place. At the Advanced category, Leianne Gingco won the first place and Alex Chan won the second place. At the Open category, Luna McDonald won the first place.

The first place winners from the each of the categories were invited to compete at the National Japanese Speech Contest hosted by the University of Alberta on March 26, 2022. https://www.cajle.info/programs/speech-contest/njsc/
