On November 4, Edmonton Public Library's "Connecting Librarians" network held an afternoon workshop on multimodal literacies, organized by EPL intern Holly Arnason and Emerging Technologies librarian Martina King (both SLIS alumnae). Participants rotated through four stations, learning about music sampling, claymation video, digital gaming and fan fiction. Current and former SLIS students John Huck, Mike Eaton, and Caroline Land presented lively information on these topics; the claymation session was presented by library assistant Patricia Foufas from Sprucewood branch.

At the end of the afternoon, Dr. Margaret Mackey presented a talk, based on her most recent book project, on the literacies involved in interpreting a novel, a film, and a digital game.
