Why did you choose the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation for your undergraduate degree?

The BARST program was the only one offered at U of A and it was such a unique and intriguing program that was perfect for me so I was excited to be a part of U of A! I have a passion for rec and leisure and want to help people in anyway I can. I feel like leisure is so important and when I found out about BARST it was perfect for my career goals and I have enjoyed it every year since!

What has been your favourite course so far and why?

My favourite course so far is adapted physical activity (KRLS 207) I really enjoyed learning about the adaptions made in physical activity for persons with disabilities and it has actually made me figure out exactly what I want to go with my future career. I think it’s important for leisure to be accessible for everyone and I would love to be part of making that a success.

What advice do you have for new undergraduate students?

Get involved!! There are so many opportunities for students in our faculty. From the Kin Games team, KSRSS, PAW, Varsity Health, Campus Rec. The list could go on. This is how you gain experience but also make friends. I am forever grateful for this Faculty for introducing me to my lifelong friends. Make the most of your university experience. You won't remember that extra hour you studied but you will remember the memories you make with your friends.

What do you like to do for fun or relaxation?

I love working out and going for walks or runs. As well as I play soccer and sing :)

Why did you want to choose the photos above?

I chose this picture because it’s of me travelling and travel is a big part of my leisure life. Especially during this time of COVID it really makes you appreciate the opportunities we get to travel and visit these amazing places around the world and I hope we can go back to doing that again one day.
