Our history
Growing out of the rich and long history of the former Centre for Health Promotion Studies, in 2017, the School of Public Health Dean, Kue Young, launched the Centre for Healthy Communities. The launch of the Centre for Healthy Communities provided a timely and important opportunity to enhance existing partnerships and collaborations, and to build new relationships with a broader mandate that extended beyond health promotion to help communities thrive.
Funding
The Centre for Healthy Communities received seed funding from the School of Public Health to help work with our scientists and practice affiliates to develop our vision, mission, and values, core communications, collaborations, and our governance structure. The Centre is primarily funded through partnered projects and centre-initiated projects.
