September 21, 2021 U of A Bargaining Update

21 September 2021

A new season and school year has begun, and AASUA and NASA bargaining tables are recommencing as well. In the spirit of campus safety and reserving on-campus space for research, teaching and learning priorities, bargaining committees continue to meet virtually.

The AASUA bargaining table will start bargaining discussions again on October 1, 2021. The academic staff collective agreement between the University of Alberta and Association of Academic Staff University of Alberta (AASUA) expired on June 30, 2020. This round of negotiations started in November 2020, after a period of delay due to the pandemic.

NASA bargaining teams met on September 1 and 2, and will start bargaining discussions again on October 5, 2021. The support staff collective agreement between the university and the Non-Academic Staff Association (NASA) expired on March 31, 2019. Also delayed due to the pandemic, the NASA bargaining table commenced this round of negotiations in March 2021.

The university is committed to providing timely and relevant information on collective bargaining. See the bargaining meeting schedule for upcoming meetings. As the meeting schedule unfolds, U of A bargaining updates will continue on an as needed basis throughout the fall.
