New Courses at the English Language School
In Fall 2023, two new course offerings will better prepare international students to be successful in their undergraduate studies.
The English Language School is launching two new language courses that together meet the English Language Proficiency requirements for undergraduate admission to the U of A.
EAP 136 Language Readiness
Sep 5 - Dec 8, M-F, 4hrs/day + Seminar
- Activities to express ideas and opinions with overall clarity, fluency and increasing precision
- Building understanding of general and academic conversations, lectures and presentations
- Critical engagement with a variety of spoken and written texts
- Opportunities to interact within the university and broader community
This course is offered in Fall, Winter, and Spring terms.
EAP 137 Academic and Intercultural Communications
Sep 5 - Dec 8, MWF 2hrs/day OR TR 3hrs/day
- Strategies to transition and succeed in a Canadian university
- A variety of academic tasks with a focus on applied critical thinking and analysis
- Understanding academic integrity and the effective use of sources
- Communication and collaboration skills in an intercultural setting
This course is offered in Fall, Winter, and Spring terms.
