Graduate Admissions

Graduate students at the University of Alberta are part of the Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies (GPS). In addition to program-specific requirements and deadlines, FGSR has policies and requirements pertaining to all graduate students at the University of Alberta. Dates and deadlines may differ between programs, therefore it is crucial to review your chosen program requirements well in advance of the application deadline.

Step 1: Choose your Graduate Program

Educational Policy Studies offers graduate programs at the Master and Doctoral level in four specializations.

Step 2: Review Graduate Admissions Requirements

FGSR has general admissions requirements for all applicants. Visit the program-specific subpage to review specific requirements and contact the program if you have any questions.

Step 3: Prepare and Apply Online

The application requires digital copies (PDF) of official documents. The uploaded documents are considered unofficial and will be used for the initial evaluation of the application. See Application Documentation for more information.

Application Deadlines

There are two application deadlines for MEd admissions: October 1st and March 1st.

The doctoral program has one application deadline: December 1st.

Application Documentation

Review the document checklist, document requirements, and all application steps before applying. Application documentation can include Transcripts, Referees, Curriculum Vitae/Resume, Statement of Intent, Distinguished Life Experience Essay, English Language Proficiency Requirement, Confirmation of Potential Research Supervisor (Doctoral), Writing Sample (Doctoral).
