Ready

Each member of the campus community is expected to be ready to act in case of an emergency.

We can assist you.

Contact us for assistance with emergency response planning, continuity planning and training staff to prepare for emergencies.

We have created tools and resources that you can use to get ready.

Emergency Management has also established a system to notify the campus community when a emergency may impact their health and safety. More information on Get Notified.

In collaboration with University of Alberta Protective Services (UAPS), we will issue a U of A Alert when we need to inform you of an urgent event that requires you to act.

We test the system regularly to make sure the system is functional and ready when needed.

Ready to notify our campus community

When a serious emergency happens, a U of A Alert is delivered in a variety of ways:

  • UAlberta App

  • Fire Panels

  • Alertus Beacons

  • Alertus Desktop

  • Twitter & Facebook - retweets & reposts

  • Email

  • SMS - Canadian Wireless and Telecommunications Association prevents universities from advertising use of text for emergency alerts*

  • YOU

Why? To make sure the urgent message gets to you in as many ways as possible with instructions on how to be safe.

Pass it on! It's an emergency, tell others.
