Araucaria Foundation — Getting to the World of Science
Program Information
Araucaria Foundation's Getting to the World of Science (GWS) research internship program generously annually supports up to five talented senior undergraduate students from universities in the state of Paraná, Brazil to perform research with University of Alberta faculty members on their projects for 3-4 months.
Information for U of A Faculty Hosts
These research placements typically start on or around May 1 and end around August 31, but may be slightly flexible by a week or two depending on the host professor's availability and permission.
Students start their journey of scientific discovery and gain hands-on research experience working under an expert in their academic discipline. The Araucaria Foundation provides the selected participants with airline tickets, immigration fees, and health insurance, along with a monthly stipend of $870 USD to help cover living expenses, such as accommodation/housing, food, transportation, etc.
