Business Administration Tech

Admission Requirements

Please note that there are two categories of applicants for admission:

High School applicants to the Business Administration Tech program must meet the following three requirements:

 

Math

Have successfully completed one of the following courses (or its equivalent in your province or country of origin) :

  • Pure Math 30
  • Applied Math 30
  • Math 30-1 or 30-2 

 

French

Successful completion of the following Alberta Education curriculum:
  • Français 30-1, 30-2
  • French Language Arts 30-1, 30-2
  • French 30 (9 year), 31

OR

Successful completion of four years of education in French. Such education can be in a combination of secondary and postsecondary training.

OR

Graduation from a diploma or degree program offered by an accredited postsecondary institution at which French is the language of instruction.

English*

Demonstrate English fluency with the successful completion of one of the following courses (or its equivalent in your province or country of origin) or test scores :

  • English Language Arts 30-1 or 30-2
  • A minimum score of 80 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Internet-Based Test (iBT) and a score of less than 20 on the individual test component. 
  • A minimum score of 550 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) if the test was taken on paper.
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS): an overall minimum score of 6.5 and the score in any section must not be less than 5.0.
  • Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL): a minimum score of 70.
  • Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): a minimum score of 85.

*Admission with an English deficiency

Applicants to the Centre collégial de l'Alberta are not required to demonstrate proficiency in the English language before being admitted. However, they must demonstrate this proficiency before they can obtain a degree, diploma or certificate from the University of Alberta.

A student who does not have this proficiency at the time of admission must take English as a Second Language (ESL) courses.
