Please note:
- After purchasing the test online you will receive your personal access code by email within 48 hours (2 business days). This code is linked to your name, which means the person taking the test must purchase it through their own account.
- If you plan to register for French group classes at EDL Campus Saint‑Jean, EV@LANG will be used together with an orientation interview conducted by one of our expert teachers.
- No test is required if you are a complete beginner. In that case, you may register directly for Level A1.1 (all adult audiences), or for Public Servants: Introduction to French for pure beginners with no background, or for Level 1A if you are a “false beginner” with some prior exposure to French.
- EV@LANG is NOT recognized by the Government of Canada for immigration purposes.

Buy the test
Purchase an access code in the Campus Saint-Jean online shop.
The EV@LANG test includes three modules: oral comprehension, written comprehension, and grammar and vocabulary.
Check your email
After purchasing the test, your EV@LANG access code will be sent to your email address within 48 hours (2 business days). If you do not receive it, please check your spam or junk folder.

Take the test
Use your EV@LANG code and complete your personal information in order to create a profile on the France Education International website.
The test takes about 35 minutes. Although it can be taken on any device, we strongly recommend using a computer with a keyboard and a reliable sound system or headphones for the listening section.
Frequently Asked Questions
The test is available to anyone from beginner to advanced level. You do not need to be a student at our institution to take it.
Each purchase provides a single access. Once you complete the test, the licence code expires and you cannot retake it. If you wish to take the test again, you will need to purchase a new licence.
Because language skills evolve over time, the results are valid for six months. This ensures that your placement reflects your current level. After six months, if you wish to register again, you will need to retake the placement test.

If you left the test too early or lost your Internet connection, you can log back in and resume by requesting a new password. Return to the EV@LANG platform and follow the instructions on the right side of the screen. A new username and password will be sent to your email address.
