Use this checklist to navigate the essential steps from admission to your first week on campus.

Confirm your admission

Confirm your admission letter

• Your admission letter includes information about the conditions of your admission offer, as well as other important information about the next steps you need to take.
• You can access your admission letter by logging in to your UAlberta Launchpad account.

Accept your offer and complete the application checklist

• You must accept your admission offer and pay a non-refundable tuition deposit by the deadline indicated in your UAlberta Launchpad account. This will confirm your intent to attend and allow you to register in courses. You cannot build your class schedule before you pay your tuition deposit. Follow these steps on how to accept your admission offer
• Complete the application checklist by checking your UAlberta Launchpad "Checklist" for information on outstanding admission requirements. Make sure to submit official documents of all requirements by the appropriate deadline.

After you confirm admission

Understand your responsibilities

• As a U of A student, you are responsible for:

  • Registering for courses
  • Monitoring deadlines in the University Calendar
  • Checking your @ualberta.ca email regularly
  • Understanding university policies and expectations outlined in the Student Conduct Policy and the Student Academic Integrity Policy.
  • If you are unsure about a process or policy, contact the Student Service Centre.

• Set up your @ualberta.ca email account

  • All official university communication will be sent to your @ualberta.ca account. Set it up now to ensure you don't miss critical updates. Follow these instructions to set up your account.

• Upload your ONEcard photo

  • A ONEcard is your official U of A photo identification. Follow these steps to upload your photo. You will have the opportunity to pick up your ONEcard during Orientation. If you want or need to pick up your ONEcard outside of orientation, you can view extended hours here.

• Register for courses

  • Once you have accepted your admission offer and paid the tuition deposit (if applicable), you can register for your courses. You are responsible for course registration and any changes to your registration. If you decide not to attend the university, you must cancel your class registration to avoid the tuition charges.   • Even after you are enrolled in courses, you can still change your schedule before the add/drop deadline. Refer to the University Calendar.
  • Graduate students should consult with their supervisors and departments for course registration information.
  • Pay attention to the term registration and payment deadlines to avoid late fees or problems with your course registration.

• Register for accommodations early if you are an eligible student

  • Accessibility & Accommodations services at the U of A offers academic accommodations to eligible students who encounter restrictions to their ability to pursue post-secondary studies due to medical conditions, including physical and mental conditions and/or non-medical protected grounds. Register early so that you are ready to take full advantage of your academic experience. Learn more about registering for accommodations

• Register for orientation

  • Register for orientation to receive a personalized schedule with recommended programs and events.

• Complete online orientation

  • Learn about campus life, student services and supports through self-paced online orientation modules. Start online orientation
