Biochemical and biomedical research in the department focuses on biomaterials advances in developing bioactive and bioresponsive surfaces, functional biomaterials for therapeutic agents, nanomedicine and regenerative medicine, developing bioprocessing strategies for improved production and conversion in microbial systems, and understanding and modifying host-bacteriophage infection mechanisms.
