Notification of Employee Death

The death of a staff or faculty member has a profound impact on family, friends, and the work and learning environment.

Please notify the Workplace Response Coordinator in Human Resources, Health, Safety and Environment (HRHSE) or a leader within the college, faculty, department or unit. This will ensure that we are able to reduce the number of times the family is contacted during this very difficult time.

The Workplace Response Coordinator will ensure notifications are made to all administrative areas requiring the information. The family/executor will then receive information about the requirements to process outstanding pay and any applicable benefit and pension claims.

Who to Contact

If you are informed of the death of an employee, please notify HRHSE’s Workplace Response Coordinator when you're able at 780-492-2249 or sarah.flower@ualberta.ca. Once notified, HRHSE will notify others as required (i.e., Faculty Relations, HR Partner, Shared Services) as appropriate.
