The Department of Pediatrics Clinical Innovation of the Year Award

The Clinical Innovation Award is established to formally recognize and celebrate high-impact clinical innovation that demonstrably and positively transforms the care and well-being of children. This award honors projects or initiatives developed by community or university colleagues that demonstrate excellence and are scalable at the regional, national, or international level.

Nomination Process

The primary nominator must be a faculty or staff member of the Department of Pediatrics.
Optional secondary/supporter nomination must be a faculty or staff member within the Department of Pediatrics. Both the nominator and supporter must personally have collaborated in research with the nominee while the nominee was on faculty.
Both nominator and supporter of nomination must include their contact information and a letter of support.

Eligibility

The award seeks to recognize clinical innovation across a broad spectrum of impact, which may include, but is not limited to:

  • Patient-Centered Programs: Development of novel, integrated patient-care programs or enhanced patient education resources.
  • Optimized Care Delivery: Optimization of clinical processes, implementation of novel healthcare delivery models, or creation of new standards of practice.
  • Quality and Safety: Original quality improvement projects, development of clinical databases for enhanced surveillance, or significant advancements in patient safety protocols.
  • Preventative Health: Initiatives advancing health promotion and disease prevention strategies.

This award may be given to individuals or a team who has/have brought recognition to the Department of Pediatrics by such innovation. If it is a team nomination, at least one faculty from the Department of Pediatrics should have had a major role in the innovation.

Nominations for the 2025/2026 year are now closed. 

All nominations will be reviewed by an Awards Committee consisting of various members in the Department of Pediatrics and the wider community as needed.
