Personal Safety Accompaniment
Physical accompaniment and personal safety support is available to students, staff and faculty across University of Alberta campuses.
UASU Safewalk
Safewalk is the primary resource for general walking accompaniment during its operating hours. It is a volunteer peer escort program organized by the University of Alberta Students’ Union (UASU).

Safewalk can meet you anywhere on North Campus, South Campus, Campus Saint-Jean and Enterprise Square.
UAPS Personal Safety Support
University of Alberta Protective Services (UAPS) provides personal safety accompaniment between locations on university property outside of Safewalk's operating hours.

UAPS can also provide personal safety support for elevated, emergent or operationally assessed safety concerns 24 hours a day. New or emerging safety needs can be accommodated immediately with the assessment and approval of the on-duty supervisor.
UAPS works with localized resources to support safety outside of North Campus and South Campus.
Campus Saint-Jean
Accompaniment requests for Campus Saint-Jean outside of Safewalk’s hours will be assessed by the on-duty supervisor and serviced by North Campus-based UAPS Peace Officers or Security Agents, subject to standard travel times and priority-based dispatch.
Augustana Campus
UAPS Security Agents provide on-site coverage at Augustana until 12 a.m. on weeknights and 10 p.m. on weekends. UAPS Peace Officers are not permanently stationed at this campus, and will consult and coordinate with the Camrose Police Service for immediate safety requirements or requests outside Security Agents’ hours or scope.
Enterprise Square
Contracted private security provides on-site accompaniment and safety services and will accompany you within two blocks of Enterprise square.
Call 780-428-1541 or visit the main floor security desk to request accompaniment, ideally with one hour notice.
UAPS may supplement these services if an escalated risk is identified, a formal threat assessment protocol is active or on-site private security is momentarily unavailable. UAPS jurisdiction is limited to the interior and immediate perimeter of the building.
