Why Our Clinics Matter
The Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine teaching clinics give students the opportunity to learn by doing, helping them gain the practical experience needed for their profession while also providing essential care to the communities and underserved populations who rely on us.
This work is critical: The Faculty’s professional programs require over 350,000 clinical placement hours each year to meet accreditation standards and ensure graduates are fully prepared for practice. Meeting this level of experiential learning demand requires dedicated, high-quality clinical environments. The teaching clinics help bridge that gap, creating meaningful placement opportunities that elevate student learning and strengthen care across Alberta. Our clinics:
- Give graduate students the practical, supported clinical experience they need to grow into confident professionals.
- Provide access to affordable, specialized care for individuals and families in our community.

Teaching Clinics
Corbett Hall Physical Therapy Teaching Clinic
The Corbett Hall Physical Therapy Teaching Clinic brings together physical therapy students and learners across the College of Health Sciences to deliver comprehensive musculoskeletal and neurological assessments and rehabilitation. Under the close guidance of licensed physical therapists, students gain real-world experience while supporting clients through their recovery. This clinic also hosts the Alberta Cancer Exercise Program (ACE), expanding access to specialized, evidence-based cancer rehabilitation.
Corbett Hall Speech-Language Clinic
The Corbett Hall Speech-Language Clinic offers speech-language pathology services for clients of all ages, from preschools developing early communication skills to adults and seniors seeking tailored support. Graduate students, supervised directly by qualified professionals, deliver personalized, evidence-informed care that aligns with their learning objectives while making a meaningful impact in the community.
Corbett Hall Sports Performance Clinic
The new Corbett Hall Sports Performance Clinic provides gold-standard assessment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play support for athletes at every level. Licensed physical therapists supervise physical therapy students and other learners as they work with professional athletes, olympians and paralympians, and high performance community athletes. Students gain cutting-edge sport rehabilitation experience while helping athletes return safely and confidently to their sport.
Rural Rehabilitation Health Hub
Rooted at Augustana and uniting all three rehabilitation disciplines — occupational therapy (OT), physical therapy (PT) and speech-language pathology (SLP) — the Rural Rehabilitation Health Hub expands access to essential clinical placements while reducing travel costs for students. The Hub strengthens rural health by providing both uni- and interprofessional rehabilitation services to communities that often face limited access to care. Students gain meaningful, community-immersed experience while helping improve rural health outcomes.
