Fluid Mechanics & Systems

About

Research in fluid systems engineering is broad and encompasses many nuanced areas. Given our dependence on these systems, the Department of Mechanical Engineering has created research thrusts to contribute to the advancement of science and technology for use in this area. Research in fluid mechanics and systems in the Department draws attention to foundational subjects as well as to applications. This has created exciting opportunities for novel experimental and numerical research.

Our Department continues to grow and nurture expertise in this research area and general topics include, but are not limited to, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems; aerodynamics; turbulent flows; numerical simulation of complex flows; flow visualization and control; aerosols, particle dynamics, and climate; and nano-satellites.
