Teaching and research in the Department of English & Film Studies (EFS) is focused on three core areas. We study English literature and language within a wide-ranging curriculum that is celebrated for its inspired pedagogy. We mentor students in creative writing across numerous genres that include poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction. And we teach film and associated media, embracing both historical contexts and theoretical approaches. Pursuing its mandate with a commitment to enriching our students’ cultural and interdisciplinary understanding, EFS encourages active collaborations between these areas of strength.
