The Centre for Earth Observation Sciences (CEOS) of the University of Alberta was established in 2006 to promote objective, remote sensing -based research in environmental monitoring and resource exploration. Our vision is to:

  • Provide accurate, innovative and comprehensive ways to identify, monitor and communicate ecosystem processes.
  • To provide an objective framework for decision-makers and stakeholders to understand complex and interlinked environmental changes.
  • To improve raw materials extraction and processing efficiency through the use of non-invasive sensor technologies.

Our research projects span from the Canadian Arctic to tropical forests. Through existing international collaborations, the CEOS participates in a range of research intiatives funded by public and private domestic (provincial and federal) and international organizations.
