Gifts from Outside Canada

The University of Alberta is committed to excellence in teaching and research and to the fundamental principles of academic freedom. Philanthropic support is an important element in advancing research and education. Donations from individuals and organizations help the university achieve its academic mission and enhance its programs and services to students and researchers.

Gift from the U.S.

Under the Canada-United States Income Tax Convention, University of Alberta alumni and their families (defined as: spouses, children, grandchildren, parents and siblings) may make donations directly to the University of Alberta and use the University of Alberta charitable gift receipt for their U.S. income tax returns.

However, to facilitate giving from American citizens (or residents) who are not U of A alumni or related to U of A alumni, as well as gifts from corporations and foundations requiring a U.S. tax receipt, the University of Alberta has established the University of Alberta Foundation U.S.A. Inc. Individuals and organizations that make a gift to the U of A through this foundation will be issued a U.S. charitable gift receipt (please see below for mailing address).

Gifts to the University of Alberta Foundation USA Inc. can be made payable to:
