Deborah McIntyre

What is your role at the clinic?

As a massage therapist at the GSSMC, I work collaboratively with other members of the clinic to provide soft tissue work to treat a variety of sports and musculoskeletal injuries for all populations. I recently had the pleasure of providing my massage therapy services to the FC Edmonton Professional Soccer Team and the University of Alberta Golden Bears and Pandas National Track and Field Team.

What is your clinic speciality?

I have worked full time in private practise for the last 20 years in association with chiropractic clinics. During this time, I have combined my vast array of clinical knowledge and continuing education to develop an effective deep tissue technique to treat a large variety of musculoskeletal conditions and injuries. I also hold a certification in Kinesio Taping.

What did you study and where?

I received my bachelor of science in biochemistry from the University of Alberta in 1989. In 1997, I received my Massage Therapy Certification from Grant MacEwan where I later taught the Joint Mobilization and Rehabilitation Exercise Program Design courses from 1999 to 2006.

Do you work specific days/hours?

Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 am to 5 pm.

What is your favourite way to stay active?

I love all outdoor activities. As a former national alpine ski racer, you will find me on the slopes teaching skiing or chasing fresh snow. In the summers, you can find me cycling through our beautiful river valley, golfing on the links, paddling and sailing on our lakes, or hiking the trails in our magnificent Rocky Mountains.
