WHAT IS YOUR ROLE AT THE CLINIC?

As a Massage Therapist at Glen Sather Sports Medicine Clinic (GSSMC), it is my passion to help each and every client alleviate aches and pain by using specific techniques to target areas of concern. Even though my goal and objectives are endless with regards to treatment plan, I believe it is more effective if I work concertedly with the GSSMC Physician and Physiotherapist team.

WHAT IS YOUR CLINIC SPECIALTY?

I’m passionate about pathological conditions, pain management and therapeutic and relaxation approaches.

I’m trained to offer:

  • Deep Tissue Massage- where it will help to treat muscle pain, soreness and musculoskeletal injuries.
  • Therapeutic and Relaxation Massage : a variety of Swedish techniques that is deeply calming, with the intent of increasing mental health and wellness; destress and regenerate everyone’s wellbeing.
  • Myofascial Release: a very light massage that will help to remove adhesion of skin from fascia which causes pain and decreases your range of motion.

I also believe in the importance of educating the client about the home care plan like stretching techniques, exercises and hydrotherapy approach.

WHAT DID YOU STUDY AND WHERE?

I obtained a Bachelor’s Degree of Business Administration Major in Marketing from Polytechnic University of the Philippines in 1996 where I was consistently on the Dean’s List.

When I came here to Canada in 2010, after 3 years, I decided to change careers and I attended Academy of Learning College where I completed my Diploma course of Medical Office Assistant with Health Unit Coordinator and graduated with Honours. I have worked for the past five years in GSSMC as a Medical Office Assistant where I’ve been exposed to assisting the Sports Medicine Physicians in treating several musculoskeletal problems. This is where I gained my drive to pursue a career in Massage Therapy! I’ve been a Registered Massage Therapist as of 2022.

DO YOU WORK SPECIFIC DAYS / HOURS?

Mondays and Wednesdays from 3 pm to 7 pm.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE WAY TO STAY ACTIVE?

I love playing badminton with my husband and kids, bowling occasionally, camping during summer and walking my cute toy poodle dog almost everyday.
