Practical Experimental Methods in Linguistics




Drs. Järvikivi and Tucker will be offering two 2 week, 3 credit courses in conjunction with the STEP@CCP (Spring Training in Experimental Psycholinguistics @ the Centre for Comparative Psycholinguistics) workshop in May. The main purpose of these courses is to provide students with the skills and background necessary to design their own experiment. The courses will be offered in conjunction from May 15th to the 29th (the full schedule is available below) it is strongly recommended that students register for both courses. Following an initial meeting on the 15th, students will be required to participate fully in the STEP courses from the 19th to the 23rd (STEP). The following week students will work in conjunction with the instructors and other students on developing their linguistic experiments.

Both undergraduate and graduate students can take this course for credit. It is strongly recommended that students have: Ling 101, 204, 205 to succeed in this course.


The course schedule is as follows:

May 15th: 8:30-12:30

May 19th-22nd: 8:30-12:45 and 14:30-16:30

May 23rd: 8:30-12:45

May 25th - 29th: 9:00-15:30
