Who will conclude with these words: “...and now, by the authority of the PostSecondary Learning Act, and on behalf of the Board of Governors, I call upon William Flanagan to come forward and take the Oath of Office.”
OATH OF OFFICE
Her Honour, the Honourable Salma Lakhani, Lieutenant Governor of Alberta
“Do you, William Francis Flanagan, swear that you will, to the best of your skill and ability, without fear or favour, truly and faithfully carry out the several duties and powers of the President and ViceChancellor of the University of Alberta?”
Professor Flanagan will reply:
“I do”
The Chair will then address the Chancellor:
“Eminent Chancellor, William Flanagan has now sworn to accept the duties and responsibilities of the Office of President and Vice-Chancellor of this university, and I ask you duly to install him in this office.”
The Chancellor, Peggy Garritty, will rise and address Professor Flanagan with the following words:
“William Francis Flanagan, at the request of the Lieutenant Governor and the Board of Governors, and as Chancellor of this university, I hereby install you as President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Alberta, with all the powers and responsibilities pertaining to this office. I now call upon the Registrar to present you with the robes of office.”
The Vice-Provost and Registrar, Melissa Padfield will then invest President Flanagan with the robes of office.
