Spring Convocation 2024
Spring Convocation 2024 will be held in the Universiade Pavilion (Butterdome) as the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium is undergoing renovations from June 2 until September of 2024. Please rest assured that we are putting plans in place to make Convocation in the Butterdome just as special as it is in the Jubilee Auditorium. Note that we did explore other venues in Edmonton for the ceremonies and the Butterdome made the most sense for the University based on availability, cost and location. This is also not the first time we have moved Convocation to the Butterdome so we do have experience in what needs to be done to make the Butterdome a wonderful venue for the Convocation ceremonies.
The ceremonies will be held June 2 (Augustana in Camrose), 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21, 2024. Dates and times for the ceremonies are listed below by Faculty:

Guest tickets
If you are planning to attend your Convocation ceremony, you will not need a ticket for yourself, but you must update your attendance on the Graduation Status page in Bear Tracks so that we can reserve a seat for you with your fellow graduates. If your plans change, please change your attendance back to no in Bear Tracks.
You will also need to obtain ceremony tickets for your guests. You will receive a maximum of three guest tickets. Only graduates that attend their convocation ceremony will receive guest tickets. All guests, including babies and toddlers, will need their own ticket.
You do not need to reserve your guest tickets in advance. Guest tickets will not be available electronically, but will be provided as hard-copy tickets. You will receive your guest tickets when you pick up your convocation packet at the University Bookstore in the Students’ Union Building (SUB) prior to your ceremony.
As the number of available guest tickets is projected according to past attendance records, the actual number of additional seats available is not known until graduands pick up their convocation packets. The Office of the Registrar therefore reserves the right to change the number of guest tickets, as required, according to graduand attendance.
All convocation ceremonies will be live-streamed and archived on this website.
Can I Get Extra Guest Tickets?
Extra tickets may become available as graduands take less than their maximum. Any tickets not distributed during the convocation packet distribution will be made available approximately one hour before each ceremony. Any extra tickets are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no guarantee that extra tickets will be available.
We are unable to accommodate any advance requests for extra tickets.
Location + Parking
Plan for extra time to get to Convocation. There are construction projects on campus that may affect access to parking and campus will be busy with many other students and their families heading to Convocation.
Parking is available in the Jubilee Carpark located adjacent to the Jubilee Auditorium. Surface parking is available on the south side. A parking fee will be charged during the ceremony. See Parking Lot locations for parking rates and more parking options.
Accessibility
If you require accessible seating for yourself or a guest (wheelchair, sign language interpreter access, etc.) please contact convocation@ualberta.ca before May 31, 2024 to discuss arrangements.
