Heroes in Mind, Advocacy and Research Consortium (HiMARC) / Consortium de recherche sur le suport et defense des heros (CRSDH)

The Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (FRM) has demonstrated a clear commitment to research for military and veterans' health. In 2011, the FRM created the first Chair of Canadian Military and Veterans Clinical Rehabilitation in Canada, and has since continued to support research initiatives related to military, veterans, first responders and their families.

Over the last five years, several initiatives and partnerships related to the military have been launched. To broaden a more intentional collaboration, the Heroes in Mind Advocacy and Research Consortium (HiMARC) has been established with the aim of leveraging interest across multiple sectors, institutions, and researchers initially in Alberta and subsequently Western Canada. HiMARC will allow for a coordinated approach to research funding through both grants and donors to advance research, education, and service. Canadian military, veterans, first responders, and their families' health and well-being will benefit from HiMARC research, education, and knowledge translation activities.
