Tree removal by HUB Mall – Starting July 24

A tree located near HUB Mall has been deemed too unhealthy and poses a safety risk to the community and has been scheduled for removal.

What

Due to excessive damage, U of A has scheduled the removal of a tree located in HUB Mall. U of A seeks ways to identify preventative measures and minimize disruption to the trees on our campuses, but there are times when trees are deemed too unhealthy and pose a safety risk to the community. In those instances, removals are required.

Before decisions regarding trees are made, the university works with an external certified arborist to assess the area and identify any preventative measures required to minimize disruption to the trees’ health structures and ecosystem.

Please keep a safe distance from any work in the area and obey posted signage.

Trees on our campuses are highly valued and are only removed as a last resort when all other preservation options are unsuitable and/or the tree itself is no longer healthy.
