The Appointment of the "Head" and Delegation of Authority

The University of Alberta has appointed the Provost and Vice-President (Academic) as the "Head" under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Under Section 85 of the Act, the "Head" has delegated authority under the Act to other officers of the university as displayed in the Delegation Matrix.

The Information and Privacy Office


The Information and Privacy Office (IPO) was established under the authority of the "Head" to ensure the effective implementation and administration of the requirements of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. This office coordinates the university's response to requests for access to information and assists in the preparedness of the university to the requirements of the Act.

Faculties, Departments and Administrative Units


Each administrative unit of the university has designated a FOIPP Liaison Officer to assist applicants and the Information and Privacy Office in receiving and responding to requests for information and ensuring compliance with the privacy legislation.
