Application Guide

BEFORE YOU APPLY
Contact atepadvi@ualberta.ca to set-up an initial admissions consultation.
Consulting with ATEP first, may expedite the admissions review and/or process and helps avoid unnecessary delays.

Review the admission requirements for the program you are applying for.
These can be found on the Admission Requirements section of the ATEP website.
HOW TO APPLY
Submit your online application through uab.ca/apply.
Click on the yellow "Apply Now" button at the top. Your application is not submitted until the application fee has been paid.

The University of Alberta uses Launchpad, an online platform that will allow you to check your application status, upload documents, and more. We are not able to accept any paper applications.

Tip: The Undergraduate Admissions & Programs website has wonderful videos to walk you through the application process, including creating your ApplyAlberta and Launchpad accounts.

Receive your UAlberta student ID number and Campus Computing ID.
You should receive an email with your UAlberta student ID number and your Campus Computing ID (CCID) within two business days of submitting your application. Your CCID allows you to access many services, including your UAlberta email account.

All communications will be sent to your UAlberta email account, so activate it as soon as possible and check it frequently.

Submit all required documents through Launchpad before the document deadline.
Once your application has been submitted, a personalized checklist of outstanding items will be posted in your Launchpad account. Additional information about these documents can be found on the Required Documents section of the ATEP website.

Note: To log in to Launchpad, you will need to use the same email address and password you used to create your application. This is not your UAlberta email.

You can upload unofficial copies of your transcripts for your application evaluation. If an offer of admission is extended, you must supply official transcripts to the Registrar’s Office by the applicable document deadline. Official and complete documents should be submitted to:

Office of the Registrar and Student Awards
University of Alberta
201 Administration Building
Edmonton AB
T6G 2M7
Canada

View the U of A's Transcripts & Documents page for information. If you have any questions about uploading your transcripts or required documents, please contact atepadvi@ualberta.ca.

AFTER YOU APPLY

Check your UAlberta email and Launchpad regularly.
Any updates or inquiries regarding your application will be sent to your UAlberta email. Your Launchpad account will also be updated as your application progresses through the evaluation process.
As an applicant, you are responsible for being aware of any updates, checklists, and requests for information sent to your UAlberta email and/or posted in your Launchpad.

Apply for residence if you wish to live in on-campus housing.
Visit www.ualberta.ca/residences for complete details and deadlines.

Apply for scholarships, awards, and financial assistance if applicable.
Visit the Faculty of Education Scholarships and Awards page for complete details.

Check for admission decisions in Launchpad.
You will be notified via automated email from Launchpad when a decision has been made. If an offer of admission is extended, you will also receive an ATEP acceptance letter with information specific to our program.

AFTER YOU’RE ACCEPTED

Accept your admission offer and pay your tuition deposit.
Admission offers must be accepted in Launchpad. Undergraduate students new to the university must submit a non-refundable tuition deposit to confirm their admission. The tuition deposit will be applied toward your total tuition cost. You cannot be registered in your courses until the tuition deposit has been paid. See Student Tuition Payment Options.

More information about the tuition deposit and payment options can be found on the Financial Services site. If you are funded by a third party, such as your band, you may request that your tuition deposit be waived by submitting a request through the Student Service Portal.

Review the personalized Program Sheet from ATEP’s Academic Advisor.

Once admitted, ATEP’s Academic Advisor will provide you with a personalized Program Sheet outlining the courses you must complete to earn your BEd. If you have previously completed courses equivalent to required courses in the BEd Program, we will note this on your Program Sheet.

Use Bear Tracks to check your schedule once you are enrolled in your courses by ATEP’s Academic Advisor.

As an ATEP student, you do not have to register yourself in courses. ATEP’s Academic Advisor will ensure you are enrolled in courses alongside your cohort.

For assistance with Bear Tracks, the Bear Tracks User Guide provides a manual as well as video tutorials.

Continue to check your UAlberta email and Launchpad.

We will continue to send information to your UAlberta email account, including important details about ATEP, orientation, course changes, etc. If you have been offered admission with conditions, checking your Launchpad to track your application to its completion is important.

Attend Orientation.

All students new to ATEP are expected to attend the ATEP Orientation in late August. Details will be sent to your UAlberta email.

In addition, First Peoples’ House hosts the Bridges Orientation for First Nations, Métis, and Inuit students who are new to the University of Alberta.

Pay your tuition.
Your fee assessment will be available in Bear Tracks under Financial Account. Refer to the University Calendar for more information about dates and deadlines. As a reminder, tuition deposits paid at the time of admission acceptance will be applied to your Fall term tuition.
