Courses & Requirements

The Alberta MBA is designed to give you an in-depth grounding of business fundamentals and the opportunity to build expertise in specific areas.  Both the full-time and part-time MBA programs require you to complete 20 courses (FastTrack MBA students complete a minimum of 12 courses).  In addition to courses offered during the normal academic calendar, students can complete one-week long intensive during the spring/summer terms, international study tours, or international exchange courses to meet their degree requirements.

Specializations and Areas of Focus

Specializations are available to students who entered into the UAlberta MBA prior to Fall 2019.  For students entering the program from Fall 2019 onward, please see our Career Tracks.

Finance

Finance Specialization will position students for successful careers in investment banking, private equity, and corporate finance.

International Business

International Business Specialization is designed to address managerial issues that are relevant to doing business across national boundaries.

Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Students specializing in Innovation and Entrepreneurship gain the competencies to manage technological innovation, entrepreneurial ventures, and commercialization processes in generating business plans and ideas.

Natural Resources, Energy & Environment

Through NREE Specialization, students develop energy-related analytical expertise based on a broad understanding of the resource and energy industries.

Sustainability

With a Sustainability Specialization, students gain expertise in delivering social impact, operating in an environmentally sensitive manner, and building communities.

Public Policy & Management

Public Policy & Management Specialization enables students to develop analytical skills, problem-solving strategies, and consensus-building techniques critical for success in the public sector.

 


Area of Focus

The Real Estate stream provides students the opportunity for a broad-based education in real estate economics, finance, law, and development preparing them for a range of careers in the industry.
